What's USE4? How can I use this?

The first internet site you see when you start your browser is called your homepage, and there is normally only one page that you can give this status to. If you're like me, there are several pages that you enjoy reading every time you're on the net. What USE4 does is to give your browser a new feature - the ability to have multiple homepages. Now, instead of relying on a standard portal site, make a portal for yourself! You can have top news sites like CNN or the New York Times as your national news page... and a local newspaper site for local news sports and weather. In other words, build your own custom portal site out of the pages that interest you most. Just visit setup to choose your pages, then set www.use4.com/launch.html as your browser's homepage.

How can four pages be on the screen at once?

The USE4 launch page that you give to your browser as its default homepage is a Javascript program that opens a new browser window for each start page that you specify. The windows are cascaded so that you can see all the titles, and the page load times are staggered so that each page has a chance to load without fighting the others for bandwidth. This feature is especially useful for low-bandwidth internegt connections, like a dial-up account or a smartphone. Simply close each window as you finish reading it, and the next window is all loaded and ready for you. The USE4 window is on the bottom. When you reach it, you're ready to surf as you normally would.

Does it work with all computers? All browsers?

The most important thing is to have a relatively modern browser. There is no particular hardware requirement, so USE4 should work with any computer.

How do I make USE4 my start page?

In Internet Explorer: Click on the tools menu, and select internet options. With the general panel selected, you should see where the home page is entered. type http://www.use4.com/launch.html into this window.

Firefox: From the tools menu, choose options. On the left top you will see a General tab. Select it (if it's not already selected.) Now, where it says home page, type http://www.use4.com/launch.html into the window.

It doesn't work or I get Javascript errors.

Make sure that you are running one of the recommended browsers above. Next, make sure that cookies and Javascript are enabled in your browser. If it works sometimes and not others, or seems to run very slowly, see if one of the pages you are launching contains a lot of Javascript or a Java applet. This page may be slowing everything else down. Try eliminating it or running it last.

If you get page not found errors, revisit setup to check the addresses you entered. In particular, make sure they all begin with http://

Can I have more than four pages?

Yes, just visit advanced setup. We will be adding other advanced features to this page as well.

Are there other uses for USE4?

Yes, of course. Instead of start pages, you could enter your four favorite hobby pages... let's pick golf, for instance. Just bookmark our launch page, naming it Golf in your bookmarks. Now, everytime you want a golf update, you select your bookmark - and USE4 will open all four of the best golf pages for you. Choose multiple sites for any subject that interests you... and save them all as one bookmark.

I don't want to launch my windows right away.

Easy. Just make www.use4.com your homepage, without adding the 'launch.html' part. You can launch your startpages at your convenience by pushing the 'Launch' button on our main page.
