It's not easy to predict what you'll get from these money-for-survey sites. Typically, if there's a survey in the works you'll be notified by e-mail. First, they have you fill out a "screener" survey, to see if you even fit the profile of the project. If you pass, you'll get a survey to do. Compensation for the survey or market study ranges from $1 to over $100 (yes, really - I once made over $200, but these experiences are rare), depending on difficulty. Often, you only get a contest entry instead of money. Occasionally, you may be testing a product which you can keep. There's a bunch of these sites, so I'll put the ones that I've heard the best about on top.
